A Continued Commitment to Community Support

We are pleased to announce that we have officially named The Teesside Family Foundation as our long-term charity partner. This follows a highly successful nine-month partnership through our Charity of the Year initiative for 2025.

Throughout our Charity of the Year partnership, it became clear that The Teesside Family Foundation aligned closely with our family values that fuel our charity initiatives. Their 100% volunteer-led structure, strong local presence, and clear, measurable community impact stood out from the outset.

The clarity around where funds were going, combined with the tangible difference their work made across Teesside, demonstrated a perfect fit for the Applebridge Family and set the foundation for a formalised, long-term commitment.

Why We Chose to Formalise the Partnership

When reviewing our Charity of the Year outcomes, we focused on the values that matter most to the Applebridge Family when selecting our charity partners:

  • A strong local presence
  • Clear and measurable community impact
  • A transparent approach to support delivery
  • Alignment with our commitment to investing in the regions where we operate

The Teesside Family Foundation, a 100% volunteer-led organisation, consistently demonstrated these qualities. Their team provided us with complete visibility of the difference our fundraising and volunteering were making on the ground.

“After working with them for nine months, I found we were helping such a range of people… It made me realise that by partnering with this charity we would be able to help so many more people each year.”— Gemma Peacock, Finance Director, Applebridge Family

Our Shared Impact Moving Forward

As part of the new official partnership, The Teesside Family Foundation will receive £20,000 annually from the Applebridge Family. This core funding will be supplemented by additional fundraising from our teams, including our annual charity golf day, internal workplace initiatives, and future community participation events.

This sustained support will allow the charity to:

  • Plan long-term projects with confidence
  • Respond quickly to urgent requests for help
  • Expand its reach to more families across Teesside

For us, the partnership is far more than financial backing. Our employees will continue to volunteer, fundraise, and champion The Teesside Family Foundation’s work across the wider region — something that has always been central to Applebridge’s culture.

Looking Ahead

We are extremely proud of what has already been achieved through our collaboration with The Teesside Family Foundation. Formalising this partnership strengthens our long-standing commitment to supporting the communities in the regions where we are based and operate.

We look forward to working together to deliver meaningful, measurable impact for the people of Teesside.

Partnership with the CAUSE Foundation

We are thrilled to announce that The CAUSE Foundation is our new ‘Charity of the Year’ for 2024! This decision reflects our ongoing commitment to supporting families in Teesside.

This announcement comes as we wrap up a wonderful year of collaboration with Victoria’s Wish, our 2023 charity partner. Our journey with Victoria’s Wish has been nothing short of inspiring. We’ve seen firsthand how our contributions have made a real difference, particularly with our final sponsorship: a static campervan in the serene Lake District. This campervan offers a peaceful retreat for families of young people facing life-threatening illnesses, providing a much-needed break from hospital visits and treatments.

Ian Lawrence, the founder of Victoria’s Wish, shared his heartfelt thanks: “We are incredibly thankful to the Applebridge Family. The caravan will provide a sanctuary where families can find comfort and peace during the most challenging times of their lives. It’s gestures like these that truly make a difference.”

Supporting our community is at the heart of what we do. Donny Hughes, our founder and CEO, reflected on this initiative: “We believe in making a tangible difference in the lives of those around us. Partnering with Victoria’s Wish has allowed us to extend that support to families facing unimaginable challenges.”

Looking ahead, we are eager to work with The CAUSE Foundation. This partnership will not only involve our financial support but also activities throughout the year, including a major fundraising event at the Wynyard Estate Golf Course.

Pat McBride, co-founder of The CAUSE Foundation, expressed their gratitude: “We are absolutely delighted and profoundly grateful to be chosen as the Applebridge Charity of the Year. It will make a huge difference to our charity and gives us confidence to continue supporting the families in need across Teesside.”

Adrianna Hughes, our Charity of the Year Trustee, echoed this enthusiasm: “The CAUSE Foundation embodies the essence of community spirit and dedication that we at Applebridge Family aim to support. Their commitment to aiding families and individuals in need across Teesside is truly inspiring, and we are proud to play a part in their incredible journey.”

As we start this new partnership, we look forward to making a positive impact together. Thank you for your continued support in helping us make a difference in our community.

Applebridge are proud to announce that, along with our Family of businesses, we have been shortlisted for the #NECharityAwards under the ‘Outstanding Charity Support by Small to Medium-Sized Companies.’

Our partnership with the MFC Foundation saw 30,000 free school meals, distributed to 2,500 families, across Teesside.

We would like to recognise the dedication shown by MFC chefs, Applebridge staff, their families and MFC Foundation volunteers and the hub workers. They all worked each day, to ensure the families had access to freshly cooked meals, Without all your time and support, this would not have been possible.

All of the Applebridge Family businesses contributed towards the scheme, with a collective £40,000 donated. We were inspired by the work of footballer and MBE, Marcus Rashford after his work with the End Child Poverty campaign.

The Applebridge Family were very honoured to ‘step up to the plate and serve the community’ when times were very uncertain. To be recognised for that contribution by the North East Charity Awards, amongst many other inspiring people and businesses, is humbling.

Join the Applebridge Family to celebrate all the finalists shortlisted in the awards on Thursday 3rd December from 6.45pm. The winners of each category are announced in a special event, held across social media.

This week, Applebridge helped celebrate the birthday of a very special girl, with a baking competition in her honour.

Applebridge’s chosen charity of the year is Remembering Rebecca. They are a local charity who offer financial assistance to children with Lissencephaly and other neurological conditions.

The charity was formed in honour of beautiful little girl called Rebecca, who very bravely fought  Lissencephaly (smooth brain) in her short but inspirational, 21 months of life.

On Wednesday 28th, it would have been her 12th Birthday. The charity, which offers assistance to children, from birth to 16 years, have spent the full week fundraising to mark her birthday.

The children of the families stole the show and baked some fantastic cakes. Applebridge were very honoured to sponsor and judge the competition!

It was a very hard decision as they were all amazing but Ella aged 7  was awarded 1st place with Hector, aged 11 coming in a close 2nd.

Well done to everyone involved!

You can find out more about this wonderful charity on their website at: https://www.rememberingrebecca.co.uk/

We are so pleased to announce that 3,760 people across Teesside enjoyed hot, cooked meals, in the first week of our free-school meals initiative, in partnership with the MFC Foundation and Middlesbrough FC.

Children, families and communities across the region, were amongst those who benefited from the freshly made meals; prepped and cooked by the talented chefs at MFC’s Riverside Stadium.

Applebridge were inspired by the fantastic work of footballer turned hero Marcus Rashford, who lobbied the government to provide 1.3 million free-school meals for children over the summer holidays.

Community is at the heart of the Applebridge family and by creating a successful partnership with the Middlesbrough Foundation, we can ensure that together families across Teesside feel supported.

‘Applebridge are proud to step up to the plate and serve their community.’
