Their Challenge:

To carry out infrastructure and foundation works on Middlesbrough College’s Middlehaven campus for the sites new engineering facility.

Our Solution:

Being a part of the local supply chain (Applebridge head office less than a mile away from the site) early engagement has allowed the team to provide early planning and risks to be quickly realised and mitigated. Due to the live nature of the environment, the site poses a challenge of limited access for key functions, however this has been overcome through the deployment of drone technology. Through the application of Drones, pilots can provide regular progress updates without entering the sites grounds or adding further personnel onto the site.

Scope of Works:

Applebridge Construction was appointed to complete the following packages of works:

• Drainage works
• Installation of Attenuation tanks
• External Drainage works
• Piling
• Pile Cropping
• Pile Caps and ground beams
• Ground Floor Slab Construction
• Mezzanine Floor Slab installation
• Kerbing and Paving

The Results:

Estimated to take 35 weeks to complete, the foundation works of the 12-million-pound project is due to be completed by December 2023 with additional stages to follow.
