THEIR CHALLENGE
Envision sought to develop a cutting-edge Battery Energy Storage System (BESS) at Wilton, Lazenby Bypass, aimed at enhancing energy storage capabilities and supporting the local grid infrastructure. The project, valued at £4.6 million, faced significant challenges, including design changes and the client's overseas location
OUR SOLUTION
Applebridge Construction, alongside family companies; Applebridge Building Services, ZTL Contracting and Applebridge Utilities, tackled these challenges head-on by fostering continuous communication with Envision and maintaining a dedicated site team. Operating under an NEC contract, we ensured successful claim variations through Requests for Information (RFIs), Early Warnings, and Compensation Events (CEs). Regular fortnightly commercial meetings and weekly progress discussions were held to keep the project on track despite the hurdles.
SCOPE OF WORKS
Applebridge was appointed to complete the following packages of work:
- Cut and fill BESS Areas
- Stone up working platform
- Installation of ductwork and earthing
- Maintenance strip and limestone chippings
- Road construction per client scope
- Additional works: tarmac roads, Switchroom A, B and C bases, landing pads, lighting, and AUX bases
THE RESULTS
Through meticulous planning and persistent communication, we navigated the complexities of the project, ensuring minimal delays and maintaining project quality. Our proactive approach to managing client interactions and site operations resulted in the successful execution of the Envision BESS project.
