Construction of a new build two storey secondary school and a new build hospital mental health (autism) unit.

Their challenge:

The new builds needed on each site presented a unique set of parameters to work within, including being adjacent to either a working school environment or an operational mental health hospital environment.

• St Michael’s School, Billingham, £1.5m
  • New build two storey secondary school
  • All civils works inclusive of cut and fill, foundations, floor slab, drainage attenuation and externals including tarmacadam
  • Bespoke JCT contract - remeasurable
  • Works carried out adjacent to a live school environment
• Laurence Jackson Secondary School, Guisborough, £2.5m
  • New build hospital (mental health unit)
  • All works inclusive of cut and fill, foundations, floor slab inclusive of extensive retaining wall details, drainage and externals including tarmacadam
  • NEC contract - lump sum
  • Works carried out within a live mental health hospital environment
  • Adjacent to significant live natural water course

The results:

This £4m project commenced in December 2014 and was successfully completed in November 2016.
