Plant Fitter

About the Role

We are seeking a skilled and experienced Plant Fitter to join our growing team. This is a key role that involves working across a diverse fleet of heavy and small plant machinery, ensuring all equipment remains in optimal working condition. You'll be responsible for diagnosing faults, carrying out routine maintenance, and responding promptly to breakdowns. This is an excellent opportunity for a proactive individual who enjoys problem-solving and thrives in a fast-paced, hands-on environment.


Key Responsibilities

  • Carry out routine maintenance and servicing of heavy plant equipment, including excavators, loading shovels, dumpers, and fixed plant machinery.
  • Diagnose and repair faults in mechanical, hydraulic, and electrical systems.
  • Maintain and repair small tools and plant such as stihl saws, power floats, and other hand-held equipment.
  • Respond promptly to on-site breakdowns to minimise downtime.
  • Identify and report on potential faults or component failures before they develop into serious issues.
  • Complete inspection sheets, reports, and job documentation to company standards.
  • Ensure all work is carried out in accordance with health and safety policies and procedures.
What We're Looking For
  • Proven experience in plant maintenance and repair.
  • Strong understanding of hydraulic systems and heavy plant diagnostics.
  • Ability to work both independently and as part of a team.
  • High attention to detail and a methodical approach to fault finding.
  • Full clean UK driving licence (essential).
  • Ability to prioritise tasks and respond to breakdowns under pressure.
  • Flexible, reliable and committed to delivering a high standard of work.
Desirable
  • Relevant qualifications or certifications in Plant Maintenance or Mechanical Engineering.
  • Experience with both mobile and fixed plant equipment.
Pay & Benefits
  • Hourly Rate: £18.00 – £20.00
  • Equivalent Annual Salary: £37,440 – £41,600 (Based on 40 hours/week and 48 working weeks per year, accounting for 21 days holiday plus 8 UK Bank Holidays off)
