We are committed to playing our part in creating a more sustainable future with ISO 14001:2015 accreditation and an embedded environmental planning process. We take our commitment to the environment seriously and consider it our responsibility to ensure projects consider environmental factors and necessary actions throughout the planning and implementation phases.
Our Environment
Our environmental policy summarises our pledge to both protect and enhance the environment. We are committed to the avoidance of pollution, reduction of waste and to minimise the use of natural resources.
Our day-to-day site management processes cover a wide range of environmental matters, not least the management of surface water and flood risk mitigation. We work closely with our clients to ensure that suitable temporary or permanent systems are implemented to control the risk from surface water run-off and avoid silt pollution.
Our customers can be assured that the whole Applebridge team understands the requirements around and interaction with the local environment, as well as wider considerations such as reducing the amount of waste that goes to landfill and generating aggregate on-site for re-use. With the advantages of being able to reuse site won materials, once tested and deemed fit for purpose, we can considerably reduce the carbon footprint as well as returning savings in areas of the build process which other providers cannot offer. The advantages are far-reaching and also include a reduction in the transportation of materials to site, which in turn reduces congestion on public roads, as well as noise pollution.
As part of project planning, the Applebridge team establishes and reviews environmental objectives and targets in line with the scheme’s needs, alongside compliance with all relevant legal and other requirements.
As an ISO 14001:2015 accredited organisation, we seek to manage our environmental responsibilities in a systematic manner that contributes to sustainability and positively contributes to global Sustainable Development Goals.
Our dedicated in-house team has a wealth of expertise in the design and implementation of site remediation plans aligned to project needs. We use the latest techniques to meet ever-changing industry demands and tackle issues such as temporary surface water management.
The work we conduct involving sewer and drainage works includes a variety of environmental services such as producing Surface Water Management Plan (SWMPs) and surface water management and flood alleviation plans.
Working in compliance with CL:AIRE regulations, we have a structured process for sealing with waste materials. Our Waste Carriers Licence allows us to transport waste materials to facilitate their re-use or their re-cycling elsewhere.
Enhancing our environmental performance not only means a fulfilment of compliance obligations, it demonstrates our commitment as an employer to play our part in ensuring a more sustainable future.
